The theme of this year's conference is Principles into Practice, reflecting an emphasis of our commitment by conflict resolution practitioners and the Association for Conflict Resolution to the practical application of our guiding principles for our respective processes. We will examine and expand our shared understanding of foundational theories like self-determination, safety and access to services. We will look at emerging trends and best practices and opportunities for enhancing our practice through skill building and adhering to the appropriate standards of conduct. The goal of the 2016 Annual Conference is to provide each attendee high quality sessions that focus on theory, application, ethics and best practices, no matter their experience level.

Some of the things being planned to accomplish these goals include:

  • Over 70 high quality sessions planned by ACR Sections and the ACR Planning Committee
  • Three specialty tracks on Drug Treatment, Restorative Justice and Civic Engagement\
  • Keynote speaker The Honorable Michael John Aloi, Federal Magistrate Judge, United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and former ACR President - The Mediator Who Became a Judge
