"How do we stop the dying? Be real about the fear and ignorance between law enforcement and the communities they service. Learn to listen, with empathy, to those in the center of the storm. Then, provide a space for everyone in the storm to be able to listen to each other.
Sounds so easy, but is not.
Now is the time to stop decision-making based on fear and ignorance, and begin to make decisions based on hope and connection. Exploring where community mediation and conflict resolution strategies can be used in new ways to respond to social challenges requires strengthening relationships and supporting collaborative resolutions developed by those involved. This will reduce the fear and the ignorance of 'other.'"
