ACR’s 2017 Annual Conference Call for Proposal

Deadline: This Monday, January 9, 2017
Theme: Professionalize Your Passion
Date: October 11 – 14, 2017
Location: Crowne Plaza Hotel Dallas Near Galleria-Addison, TX

Professionalize your Passion, the theme for the 2017 Annual Conference, aims to inspire engaging dialogue and debate around the many intersecting topics related to the passion we bring to our work and the efforts to professionalize our field. The following are some questions to inspire thought about relevant topics.
  • There are questions concerning whether our field is a profession, is it already professionalized, and what foundations are necessary for a profession
  • What are the important ethical considerations that relate to the professionalization of the field?
  • What considerations are necessary to ensure further professionalization of the field respects the need for increased diversity?
  • How does the consideration of education vs experience fit into the conversation?
  • Is a volunteer a professional?
  • How do we constructively approach the certification vs. market-based credibility?
  • How do we qualify our skills and expertise?
  • In the early 2000’s mediation was predicted to be an emerging profession. There are definitely professional opportunities available, but have we maximized this potential? Also, are there clear pathways to attain these professional opportunities?
  • What are the consistent business plans for success in turning the passion for conflict engagement into a fulfilling profession?
  • How can ACR further the efforts to integrate professionalism into the pursuit of your passion?
