This Guide is intended as a starting place for those interested in developing a community mediation (or dispute resolution) center. It may also be of use to centers at differing stages of development and operation. This generous sharing of information, experience and expertise is normal operating procedure for community mediation centers.

The Community Mediation Center Start-Up Guide originated in NAFCM’s Clearinghouse of community mediation-related information contributed by NAFCM members and mediation centers beginning soon after NAFCM’s formation. The Clearinghouse now contains over 2500 items, ranging from sample forms to videotapes to training curricula from community mediation centers and other organizations throughout the country. Materials are available at no cost to members. (Just a note - some training and informational videos, as well as manuals and training curricula are available at charge. Members receive a discount)

NAFCM staff compiled a selection of the many contributed materials into the Community Mediation Center Start-Up Packet for use by new centers. Many staff members, interns and volunteers have worked to maintain and update the materials and to select appropriate materials to include from the many available. Price: Coming soon!
