Basic Mediation Training

August 22, 23 & 24, 2018; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day

Good Shepherd Mediation Program, Philadelphia's only nonprofit community mediation center, offers a 24-hour workshop that will train you to become a mediator. For the convenience of their members, the Bucks County Bar Association is hosting this workshop at their site in Doylestown.

 

The training format includes mini-lecture, video, individual, small, and large group exercises, role-playing family, neighborhood, and small claims mediation. You must attend all 24 hours to receive a Certificate of Completion. Trainees are invited to apprentice at GSMP at no extra cost.

Cost:

$500.00 (no CLE/CEU)

$550.00 (for attorneys licensed to practice law in PA seeking 19.5 CLE credits: 18.5 substantive and 1.0 ethics; and social workers seeking NASW-PA CE (21 credits)

About the Trainer:

Cheryl Cutrona has been the Executive Director of the Good Shepherd Mediation Program for 26 years. She is an attorney, mediator, conflict coach, trainer, arbitrator, editor, and adjunct faculty at Temple University Beasley School of Law. She mediates for the PA Department of Education Office of Dispute Resolution, the Philadelphia Bar Association Lawyer Fee Disputes panel, the Philadelphia Landlord-Tenant appeals mediation program, and the United States Postal Service REDRESS. She arbitrates for the Better Business Bureau, DeMars Associates, and the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. In addition to being the lead trainer at GSMP, Cutrona trains for Peninsula Mediation and ADR and Conflict Coaching Matters. Cutrona sits on the SR 160 PA Task Force on Alternative Dispute Resolution Advisory Committee, the Board of Directors of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Association for Conflict Resolution, the Philadelphia Bar Association Family Law Section ADR Committee, and serves as the Chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association ADR Committee, resigned from the Board of the PA Council of Mediators after serving for more than 20 years, and she sits on the Editorial Board of Conflict Resolution Quarterly. She is the 2008 recipient of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee "Sir Francis Bacon Dispute Resolution Award" and was named "Most Valuable Peacemaker" by the Pennsylvania Council of Mediators in 2010. Cutrona holds a BA from Michigan State University, a Masters in Library Science from Wayne State University, and a JD from Temple University, Beasley School of Law. To register, click here
