Do you ever wonder what is really going on with you or someone else when you get into an argument or conflict that can lead to some extreme behavior? It is obvious that we are not our behavior because we exhibit many different parts of ourselves throughout the day! But what is this mystery, that takes such a hold on us that we almost can't control or at least think we can't control ourselves. There are those of us who have learned that deep breathing, humor, empathy, exercise, art and just taking some space can de-escalate a situation. However, for many, it is not as simple as that.

The River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding is hosting a workshop that brings together co-founders and partners of Peace4Gainesville: a Trauma Responsive Community Initiative. This interactive training day is filled with inspiration and information that includes:

  • Trauma & Adverse Childhood Experience (ACEs) - How to recognize it and the effects on the body and brain.
  • Building Resilience - Both for individuals and in your organization's structure, policies, services, and workforce.
  • Community Resiliency Model (CRM): Simple wellness skills to practice and share.
