Calling all Restorative and Community Justice Practitioners

The River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding (RPCP) is excited to launch the Neighborhood Justice Webinar Series. This six month online training is designed to equip restorative and community justice practitioners with context and tools that will allow them to partner with isolated neighborhoods to empower and engage neighbors who are directly impacted by injustice.

Webinar 2: What is Power? Identifying and challenging power systems

Co Presenter: Jarrell E. Daniels

“Power” is a term being used more and more in criminal and community justice spaces. Service providers typically focus on how to provide resources to neighbors without engaging them as participants and solutionaries. Often times the needs of the community are far greater than just food, clothes, and employment. Without a healthy knowledge of how institutions and systems cause harm to certain community residents, we can only provide temporary answers, that often times validate institutions and systems rather than people. This session will help practitioners learn how to identify and challenge systems and institutions that cause and perpetuate harm to community residents.
