Restorative Justice [RJ] and Equity are intertwined. RJ is about changing systems to address harm more meaningfully and undo systematic patterns of institutional racism and oppression. Restorative Practices are the ways in which individuals and communities can more meaningfully build relationships, address harm when it happens, and work towards restorative justice.

With Restorative Justice being implemented all over the nation in different places and spaces, there is an assumption that everyone involved has done the personal work that is required to successfully cause no further harm – which isn’t always the case.

In this training, we will look at how we personally make this shift from punitive to restorative by exploring:

-Identity mapping
-The lessons learned through our childhood experiences
-Historical impacts

Through role-plays and community building interactions, we will explore how to be restorative in day-to-day actions and interactions.
