Trainers: Tracey Pilkerton Cairnie and James Pope

Description: Conflict is a natural phenomenon that occurs among individuals, groups, organizations and in your community. Mediation training will give you the skills to facilitate productive conversations and foster a collaborative environment where solutions can develop to help everyone involved.

This interactive 3.5-day basic mediation training lays the foundation for anyone interested in becoming a certified mediator or enhancing their conflict resolution skills. The training combines theory and practice to teach participants the fundamental concepts and skills of facilitative mediation including interest-based negotiations, reflective listening, facilitation, and structured problem-solving. Trainers have extensive experience in all areas of mediation (community, commercial, civil, workplace, and family) and use a variety of teaching methods including mini-lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, and active learning exercises. Participants will have the opportunity to practice and receive feedback during simulated role-play activities.

We have been offering this successful workshop since 1992, preparing thousands of lawyers, therapists, federal, state and local government employees, judges, human resource professionals, teachers, ombudsman, and many others to support others in resolving disputes through mediation.
