A workshop from the National Association for Community Mediation (NAFCM) on finding shared values.

About this Event

Workshop Description:

At the core of our capacity to create conflict revolution is our ability to listen with curiosity for the revelation of shared values. At the core of our ability to let go and discover these shared values is to listen for those entry points to engage. Finding our ability calls us to be aware of how our values translates and shapes our previous experiences, and impacts how we choose to act and experience what others are saying and doing. This commitment to find your ability, to transform communication into conversation requires trust to be transparent, offering acceptance not approval and recognizing with curiosity and patience the hope and grace of others so to enable them to share their power of self and to welcome your power.

Organization Description:

The National Association for Community Mediation (NAFCM), as the hub for community mediation, holds the vision that community mediation is community mobilization. Anchored in the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the association members strengthen relationships and communities by addressing social challenges through dialogue and peaceful development of interest-based solutions within individual, group and community spaces. NAFCM amplifies members’ voices, aggregates their wisdom, and advances their work, which offers mediation and other peace-creating services for over 100 types of conflict, helping community mediation centers become an instrument of mobilization for peace. As part of the support for this work NAFCM advances community mediation in policy-making, legislative, and professional arenas.
