NAFCM would like to welcome and introduce our two newest institutional members, the Minnesota Department of Corrections Integrated Conflict Management System (ICMS) and the Organization of American States (OAS).

The Integrated Conflict Management System (ICMS) is responsible for workplace conflict management involving employees, volunteers and contractors of the Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC).  The ICMS promotes a culture of conflict competency that encourages individuals to talk things through and respectfully resolve disputes at the earliest stage feasible by the fastest and least costly method.  As part of the ICMS training plan, all staff receive basic training about conflict and all supervisors are trained using a managerial mediation model.  Thousands of staff have completed other online and classroom conflict management courses.   In November 2018, Susan Stacy, ICMS Coordinator, presented a NAFCM webinar titled “Mediating Workplace Disputes in Correctional Facilities”.  This webinar is available on demand by clicking here

The Organization of American States (OAS) brings together all 35 independent states of North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean constituting the main political, juridical, and social governmental forum for the Hemisphere.  The main pillars of the OAS are promoting democracy, defending human rights, ensuring a multi-dimensional approach to security, fostering integral development and prosperity and supporting inter-American legal cooperation.  These pillars are intertwined through political dialogue, inclusiveness, cooperation, and legal and follow up mechanisms that provide the OAS with the tools to maximize its work.  To learn more about the OAS and their activities, click here
