Voting day is here. We wish everyone and community safety, hope, and patience at this time. In addition, we wish for you, our fellow family members, safe travels and to always remain awake to our calling as community mediators. As President Johnson said, when signing the 1964 Civil Rights Act, from which that planting of the mustard seed we have all grown, “Every time we fought for rights in this country, we've made rights more expansive for other people. I think that's one of the greatest legacies of the Civil Rights Act because when you look at it, you're saying that this country belongs to everybody. And if it's going to belong to everybody, everybody should have equal protection.” For America to be a more perfect union, all citizens must participate fully in the electoral process as well as full participation in social and civic life. Today we are reminded of that need to be able exercise our voice through voting. Today we are reminded of our ancestors who fought wars and spilled blood so that we can stand in line and remind those with elected power that their power comes from us, we the people. We are called to offer support on the ground in real time to those in conflict as bridges that connect those experiencing disruptions, disturbances, and disputes And, if you see something to celebrate today about voting or something that concerns you, please take a picture and upload to the TRUST Network Slack Channel and the NAFCM LinkedIn, and of course do not hesitate to reach out! We are thinking of all of you today and hoping for a peaceful voting day. And over the next few days, weeks, and months re-member we can lean in together and support each other because I am you are and because you are I am. With deep gratitude Your NAFCM Family
